December 7th till 18th 2009, during the
COPENHAGEN CLIMATE CONFERENCE
the world will decide on the future of all life on Earth.
We, citizens of industrialized states, demand our leaders not to fail this last chance and live up to the G8 climate target by fully accepting a
40 PERCENT EMISSIONS REDUCTION between 1990 and 2020 - opting for the most ambitious IPCC scenario.

Join the international campaign for 40. It's already growing organically, with support seeping in from all sides: CAN, the Climate Action Network of over 400 involved climate NGOs clearly calls for at least 40. So does the Africa Group of 50 of the poorest nations. So do India and China. So does the Alliance of Small Island States. So does each and every Copenhagen campaign and each and every climate campaigner.
Support of western states is starting off as well. Leading examples are Germany and Sweden, both countries already committed to the 40 percent emissions reduction between 1990 and 2020.
More importantly: science tells us we need 40 to retain the least chance of staying below 2 degrees, away from dominant positive feedbacks in the climate system and catastrophic and ever exceeding damage.
(Climate sensitivity is proven (Hansen et al, 2008) to be significantly higher ('more likely twice') than previously (IPCC, 2007) thought. These new findings are widely acknowledged within the scientific community (International Scientific Congress on Climate Change, Copenhagen 2009). Hence only the most ambitious IPCC scenario (even IPCC AR4 only links 40% to 450 ppm, and a 50-50 chance of 'staying below 2 degrees') - being the 40 percent reduction - is acceptable.)
Now how can you help? 40 is being mentioned, everywhere. However we still lack a group to place that exclamation mark. Help spread the word and speak out for 40! Talk about Copenhagen, talk about 40. And do show your support. Invent 40 actions. Have your friends join in and take action pictures and videos. Reach the media with your own message of 40 in Copenhagen. Post your 40 statements on the internet. And please do send them to info @ 40incopenhagen.org

March on Copenhagen! December 12th 2009 is global climate action day.
Protests and actions will be worldwide, but for the real work you and all your friends are needed in Copenhagen.
That's where we'll man the barricades as we cannot accept failure of the new climate treaty. Join the protests and demand the 40 percent emissions reduction!

Sign the biggest Copenhagen pledge campaign. It's a classic. Real action is needed, but this won't hurt either. Please support TckTckTck - it's the biggest international Copenhagen campaign.
